Wednesday, November 1: Dr. Heath W. Carter, associate professor of history at Valparaiso University, will present a lecture titled "Semper Reformanda: Church and Spirit in an Unjust World" as part of Concordia College's Jacobson Global Lecture Series. The lecture is in keeping with the college's year of themed events celebrating the 500th anniversary of The Reformation and will be held at 7:00 pm at the Sommer Center for Worship and the Performing Arts on the campus of Concordia College. Wednesday, November 1 to Wednesday, November 13: The Bronxville High School freshman class is continuing the tradition of offering an array of premium desserts for the holidays. They arrive frozen and may be thawed for immediate use or can be kept frozen until a later date. To download an order form, click here. Order forms and checks should be sent to Julie Clarke, 9th-grade advisor, Bronxville School, Bronxville, NY 10708. The deadline for orders is Monday, November 13. Orders must be picked up between 7:50 and 10:00 am on Monday, November 20, at the high school atrium (Meadow Avenue entrance).
Saturday, November 4: The annual fall clothing and tag sale of The Reformed Church of Bronxville will be held from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm in the church annex building at Midland and Kraft Avenues. In addition to clothing for men, women, and children, there will be china, books, jewelry, and bric-a-brac, all at "bargain" prices.
Saturday, November 4 and Sunday, 5: The Bronxville High School fall play, Servant of Two Masters, by Carlo Goldoni, will be performed at 7:00 pm in the Bronxville School auditorium. Tickets are $10 at the door. Servant of Two Masters is a madcap romp of a comedy and is appropriate for all ages.
Sunday, November 5: Daylight Saving Time ends at 2:00 am, when clocks are set back by one hour.
Monday, November 6: The Bronxville Board of Education will hold a long-range planning workshop at 6:00 pm in the school's multipurpose room. For more information, go to www.bronxvilleschool.org.
Tuesday, November 7: Polls are open in Westchester County from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm for election day.
Tuesday, November 7: Erik Gronning, a noted American furniture scholar and senior vice president and head of the Americana Department at Sotheby's New York, will be giving a talk titled "American Masterpieces: From Attic to Auction" in OSilas Gallery on the campus of Concordia College at 11:00 am. Mr. Gronning will discuss landmark discoveries in American decorative arts and will highlight some of the outstanding works that will be included in Sotheby's Americana Week 2018. This lecture is open to the public but tickets are required and space is limited. A light lunch is included.
