Wednesday, September 27: A lecture titled "Seeing the Faith: Martin Luther and the Multi-Media Message of the Reformation" will be given by Rev. Dr. Joshua Hollmann at 7:00 pm at OSilas Gallery on the campus of Concordia College. Dr. Hollmann will discuss how the Reformation was the first modern social movement propelled by technology, and he will explore the ways that Luther mastered print media to change the world. Thursday, September 28: The Bronxville Adult School will be celebrating its 75th anniversary, as well as the 75th anniversary of the release of the film Casablanca, with a lecture by Noah Isenberg, director of screen studies at The New School and author of the book We'll Always Have Casablanca, at 7:00 pm on the campus of Concordia College. The title of the book is also the title of the lecture. He will share anecdotes about on-set hi-jinks, grudges, rewrites, and censorship. There is no cost, but registration is required either on the BAS website, www.bronxvilleadultschool.org, or by phone at 914-793-4435. Refreshments will be served.
Saturday, September 30: The Junior League of Bronxville will be holding its annual Touch-A-Truck™ fundraiser from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm (rain or shine) at the Immaculate Conception Field at 53 Winter Hill Road in Tuckahoe. Tickets are $8 per person in advance and $10 per person on the day of the event, with packages available for families of five or more. Children under the age of one attend for free. There will be a helicopter, a fire truck, an ambulance, and the Roaming Railroad's trackless train. For more information, go to www.jlbronxville.org.
Saturday, September 30: Bronxville's annual "Salute to Seniors Day" will be celebrated with informational tables along Pondfield Road from 10:30 to noon; "silver plate lunch specials" at Underhills Crossing, Fogarty's, and Park 143 Bistro & Fish; and the opening reception at 2:00 pm in the Yeager Room of the Bronxville Public Library of the third annual Speeders 55+ Art Show with art by local artists over the age of 55. Light refreshments will be served.
