BHS Grad Meredith Rizzo Sets Record in the Steeplechase at Yale PDF Print Email

By Guest Contributor

Apr. 26, 2017:  Running the 3000m steeplechase in Princeton this past Friday, Meredith Rizzo won the Larry Ellis Invitational and also set a new school record for Yale University with a time of 10:07.98. This is currently the best time for all Ivy League runners this year. Meredith was a standout competitor at Bronxville High School and on the winning high school team for the national championship 4x800m relay in 2011.

The steeplechase record and victory she captured for Yale was on the McGraw-Erdman track, co-named for her great-grandfather Charles R. Erdman. When asked for comment on the reason for her success in the steeplechase, Meredith replied, "My coach from Bronxville, Coach Jim Mitchell, and my teammate, Emilie Hoffer, taught me the steeple!"

Graduating in May with a BS in biology, Meredith will be attending Georgetown University in the fall for a master's degree program in biotechnology.
