By Larry Winant, brother

Mar. 29, 2017:  Steve Winant, a former resident of Bronxville and most recently Tampa, died unexpectedly in his home on February 21.

He is survived by his two sons and three grandchildren: Geoff, his wife Rhia, and their children, Johanna and Quinn, and Justin and his son, Alexander. He is also survived by his three brothers, Frank of Colchester, VT, Edward of Burlington, VT, and Larry of Bronxville, along with a nephew, Asa, and nieces, Sara and Grace.

Born on January 22, 1943, in New York City, he spent his childhood in Scarsdale and Bronxville. Steve attended Bronxville High School and later Craftsbury Academy in Craftsbury, Vermont, spending his senior year at the Craftsbury American Academy program in Switzerland.

He spent his summers at Porters Point on Lake Champlain in Colchester, VT, where he worked for many years at the Mallets Bay Boat Club as a launch pilot. He attended Parsons College, graduating in 1966. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Army.

Upon his discharge from the service, Steve began his family in Ossining, NY, before moving to New Milford, CT, where he worked for the Reflectone division of Singer Sewing Machine.

He later moved his family to Tampa, where he completed his career with AeroSimulation as a project manager building flight simulators.

Steve was an avid sailor and faithfully followed America's Cup racing. He enjoyed biking at his homes in Florida and Vermont.

A loving father, great brother, and best friend and coworker, Steve will be missed by all.
