Jan. 18, 2017: The Bronxville boys' varsity basketball team started the new year by winning four of its first five games. Following a tough loss at Tuckahoe, the Broncos bounced back with four consecutive league wins, beating both Rye Neck and Keio Academy twice, by a total margin of over 100 points.
The team plays Clark Academy tomorrow and then, after a break for mid-term exams, travels to Croton-Harmon High School on Saturday, January 28, to play in an annual "Hoops for Heroes" fundraiser. Bronxville resident and former board of education member John Priesing, a U.S. Navy veteran, will be the team's honorary captain for the 1:00 pm game against Haldane.
"Hoops for Heroes" honors military service by raising money for organizations that provide support for veterans and their families. Contributions are fully tax deductible and donations of any amount are greatly appreciated. If you would like to make a donation, checks should be made payable to The Barry Fixler Foundation and may be dropped off at the school's athletic office or mailed to "Hoops for Heroes," in care of Coach Brian Senior, Bronxville High School, 177 Pondfield Rd., Bronxville, NY 10708. Information on the charitable organization is available at: http://www.fixlerfoundation.org and http://www.hopeforthewarriors.org.
