By the family
March 19, 2025: Kerrie Greene was born in Fargo ND, on November 26, 1959, and passed away on March 10 2025, at the age of 65 after a long illness. A victim of Huntington’s disease, Kerrie had recently resided at the Ferncliff Nursing Home in Rhinebeck, NY operated under the auspices of Archcare (Archdiocese of New York).
At an early age Kerrie’s parents moved the family to Saint Paul, MN. In 1969 the family moved to Elk River MN where Kerrie spent most of her childhood. In her early years Kerrie developed a strong interest in sewing and fabrics, and she set up a small business in clothing repair and quilting. She attended the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. She was a member of the Minnesota Quilters Association and worked on many group and individual projects in the great American quilting tradition. Over the years she amassed a collection of rare and valuable quilts, both purchased and created by herself.
In 1984 Kerrie moved to New York City and attended the Fashion Institute of Technology (F.I.T.) from which she graduated in May 1987. Then she began a 7th Avenue career as a Technical Designer with some of the great Fashion Houses of New York. These included Polo / Ralph Lauren, Geoffrey Beene, Adrienne Vittadini, J. Crew, Vinyard Vines, Eileen Fisher and many others. Some of her designs were featured on the cover of Vogue Magazine. Her work included extensive travel to Asian factories to oversee the proper execution of her designs. Eventually, this would all culminate in the seasonal New York Fashion Week shows, in which Kerrie participated in setting up the runway models to walk the “Looks” that she had helped design and execute. Her career can only be described as a young girl’s dream come true!
In 1989 Kerrie was married to James Tubridy, a Long Island native [NY.] They lived on Manhattan’s Upper East side until 1997 and then moved to Bronxville [NY] in lower Westchester to raise their two children, Erin and James.
Huntington's Disease has devastated many families across the globe as it is genetic and has no cure. Kerrie participated in the local Huntington’s Disease Society of America chapter. In lieu of memorials please donate to HDSA.org/donate.
Funeral service will be held at 9:45am Saturday, April 5th 2025, at the Church of St Joseph located at 15 Cedar Street, Bronxville, NY 10708
