Mar. 16, 2016: Francis Xavier Flannery, Esq., of Bronxville, New York, and Chatham, Massachusetts, died peacefully in Bronxville at the age of 86 on March 13, 2016.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Anne Spencer Flannery. He was the loving father of Chris (Mimi) Flannery, Peter (Bethany) Flannery, Laura (Jeff) Pettee, Brian Flannery, Katie (Scott) Seymour, and Elizabeth (Gary) Gollenberg and adoring grandfather "Papa" of Heather, Spencer, William, Jenny, Macklin, Christopher, Katelin, Benjamin, Hayden, and Ryan. He is also survived by his sister Patricia Foster and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Beatrice and Gerard, his sisters Geri, Ellie, and Joan, and his brother, Gerard.
Francis X. was born on June 23, 1929, in Yonkers, New York. He graduated from Fordham College and Fordham Law School and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was vice president and senior counsel for Merrill Lynch.
Francis X. played semi-pro baseball and was president of the New York State Public Golf Association of Westchester County. He was an avid golfer, reader, and master bridge player, as well as a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals and New York Giants fan.
Calling hours are 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 9:00 pm on Wednesday, March 16, at Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home in Bronxville. A funeral mass is scheduled for 10:45 am on March 17, 2016, at St. Joseph's Church in Bronxville.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends of the Bronxville Public Library, 201 Pondfield Road, Bronxville, New York 10708, in memory of Francis X.
