Bronxville Beautification Council Garden Party Was a Hit: See Photos

July 3, 2024: Ninety-seven degree temperatures didn’t wilt the enthusiastic crowd at the Bronxville Beautification Council’s (BBC) annual Garden Party.

Held in the lovely garden of Danielle and Alex Bici’s Bronxville home, the party featured hot jazz and perfectly chilled Margaritas.  The jazz was provided by NYC cabaret performer and Bronxville native Juliet Ewing Kwan, her son Dash Kwan on trumpet, and John Prestianni on piano. The food and beverages were crafted by La Casa Bronxville and Scarborough Fair Catering and the combination was electrifying!

Generous sponsors of the event included Houlihan Lawrence Bronxville Brokerage, Bronxville Family Dental, New York-Presbyterian Hospital Westchester, La Gravinese Jewelers and many more.

The Bronxville Beautification Council is a group of local residents and merchants who give their time and raise funds to enhance the natural beauty of our Village.  The BBC purchases plants and prunes our traffic islands, the railroad underpass and plantings in front of NY-Presbyterian Hospital. Individual planters bloom beside local businesses throughout the Village.  From daffodils and tulips in the spring to all sorts of flowers in summer, to boxwoods and ivy in the fall, there is always color and joy for all to share.

In her remarks, Mayor Marvin expressed her delight and thanks to the Bronxville Beautification Council, our generous community, and the Bronxville Department of Public Works (DPW) for their dedication and tireless effort to keep our Village beautiful. Approximately 100 attendees sipped chilled margaritas and enjoyed conversations with neighbors and friends, all while supporting the BBC’s efforts.

Bronxville Beautification Council

Organized in 1982, the Bronxville Beautification Council (BBC) is a not-for-profit organization administered by a volunteer Board of Directors. The mission of the BBC is to enhance and maintain the natural and man-made beauty of the village of Bronxville, with an emphasis on the downtown business district.

Boulder Ledge Garden Club

Founded in 1966, the Boulder Ledge Garden Club is rooted in a mission to inspire a deeper appreciation and love for gardening and flower arranging. The club is dedicated to fostering and promoting interest and knowledge in gardening. 

The Club maintains Bronxville’s Bicentennial Park and other civic gardens. In 2019–2020 the club raised $18,000 to replace trees in the village, reflecting its active role in community beautification. It also holds garden therapy projects and educational garden trips for members.

Bronxville Giving Garden

The Bronxville Giving Garden is a community-centered garden that donates organic produce to Eastchester Community Action Partnership in Tuckahoe and Community Service Associates in Mount Vernon. The garden is also a gathering place where school children and volunteers can discover the joy of tending plants and growing food.
