Local COVID-19 News This Week; NY State Infection Rates Up

Sep. 30, 2020 Updated at 9:47 PM: Today, Governor Cuomo said that the State is aggressively tracking COVID-19 clusters "with a particular focus on the 20 ZIP codes with the highest infection rates." Here are those zip codes and positivity rates.
Yesterday, Governor Cuomo reported that New York "has seen an uptick in the infection rate over the last few days that is being driven by several COVID clusters." He further said that "positive cases from 'hotspot' ZIP codes are 5 times the statewide rate."
The affected areas are in Brooklyn, Queens, Orange and Rockland Counties. He said that the State "will react swiftly to each cluster to stop the spread."
He said that overall the NY COVID positive test rate is now 1.35 percent. The report from the Governor's office included this chart which shows the positivity rates of different regions.
