Mar. 14, 2018: The entries below are selections from the Bronxville police blotter.
Tuesday, February 27, 2:22 pm, Palmer Avenue: A local business owner received several lewd phone calls. The phone number was provided to detectives and the incident is being investigated.
Tuesday, February 27, 6:00 pm, Paxton Avenue: A 37-year-old man of Yonkers was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd Degree after he was stopped for having tinted windows. The 2005 Chevy TrailBlazer he was operating was released to the owner, who was a passenger in the vehicle. The man was processed on scene and released pending his next court appearance.
Wednesday, February 28, 2:16 pm: Officers responded to a verbal dispute between family members. One person had already left prior to the officers' arrival. A domestic incident form was completed. No crime was committed.
Sunday, March 4, 9:57 pm: Officers quelled a verbal argument between family members. No crime was committed.
Monday, March 5, 8:31 pm, Pondfield Road: A 21-year-old man of Yonkers was charged with the misdemeanor Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended Registration after a vehicle-mounted license plate reader alerted the officer as he passed by. The man was also cited for Unregistered Vehicle and Operating Without Insurance. The 2009 Infinity G37 he was operating was impounded. He was processed on scene and released pending his next court appearance.
Tuesday, March 6, 4:25 pm, Avon Road: Police officers assisted with traffic as the Eastchester Fire Department fixed a leaking fire hydrant.
Wednesday, March 7, 3:47 pm, Sturgis Road: Officers responded to a fire alarm. The Eastchester Fire Department determined that the alarm had been caused by an outside generator. The condition was corrected and the building was cleared for occupancy.
Thursday, March 8, 4:08 pm, Kraft Avenue: An immobilization device (parking boot) was affixed to a parked vehicle rendering it inoperable because of $790 in unpaid parking tickets. Said vehicle will be released when the fines are satisfied.
Friday, March 9, 5:45 am, Pondfield Road: There was a two-vehicle accident; there were no injuries, and an information exchange was completed.
Friday, March 9, 8:45 pm, Concordia College: Officers responded to a fire alarm. The Eastchester Fire Department determined that the alarm had been caused by a vaping device inside a dorm room. The condition was corrected and the building was cleared for occupancy.
Saturday, March 10, 12:35 pm, Citibank, Pondfield Road: A wallet that was left on top of an ATM machine was stolen. The wallet was valued at $300 and contained credit cards and $200 cash. The incident is being investigated.

Bronxville is a quaint village (one square mile) located just 16 miles north of midtown Manhattan (roughly 30 minutes on the train) and has a population of approximately 6,500. It is known as a premier community with an excellent public school (K-12) and easy access to Manhattan. Bronxville offers many amenities including an attractive business district, a hospital (Lawrence Hospital), public paddle and tennis courts, fine dining at local restaurants, two private country clubs and a community library.
While the earliest settlers of Bronxville date back to the first half of the 18th century, the history of the modern suburb of Bronxville began in 1890 when William Van Duzer Lawrence purchased a farm and commissioned the architect, William A. Bates, to design a planned community of houses for well-known artists and professionals that became a thriving art colony. This community, now called Lawrence Park, is listed on the National register of Historic Places and many of the homes still have artists’ studios. A neighborhood association within Lawrence Park called “The Hilltop Association” keeps this heritage alive with art shows and other events for neighbors.
Bronxville offers many charming neighborhoods as well as a variety of living options for residents including single family homes, town houses, cooperatives and condominiums. One of the chief benefits of living in “the village” is that your children can attend the Bronxville School.
The Bronxville postal zone (10708, known as “Bronxville PO”) includes the village of Bronxville as well as the Chester Heights section of Eastchester, parts of Tuckahoe and the Lawrence Park West, Cedar Knolls, Armour Villa and Longvale sections of Yonkers. Many of these areas have their own distinct character. For instance, the Armour Villa section has many historic homes and even has its own newsletter called “The Villa Voice” which reports on neighborhood news.
