The Little Mermaid is Coming to Bronxville on March 15, 16 and 17

By Sally Fitz

March 13, 2024: Actors Conservatory Theatre (ACT) - the long-standing theater company which took up residence at Taylor Hall at Christ Church last fall - is proud to present its Junior Troupe production of The Little Mermaid on March 15, 16 and 17.

Since 2003, ACT’s Junior Troupe has produced an annual musical with young performers, grades 5 through 12, led by Janice Paganelli and George Croom and the same professional-level production team as their adult main stage projects.  Each year Junior Troupe performers experience the fun and hard work of participating in a high quality theatrical production – tuition free!

"ACT is excited to mount our first Disney production in 49 years," Ms. Paganelli reports.  "The creative energy and talent, both on stage and in our production team, is something all ages will enjoy.  Audiences will get to experience the thrill of live theatre and a live orchestra, while also supporting young performers in our new theater home in Bronxville."

Founded in 1975 by Arlene Wendt, ACT is today led by her daughter, Janice Paganelli, who is also the Resident Choreographer, House Manger and Co-Producer of ACT’s Junior Troupe.  ACT has staged over 130 main-stage productions in its 49-year history, including comedies, dramas, musicals and original works.  They have conducted numerous acting workshops for children, beginner actors and scene study workshops for experienced performers. Many, in part thanks to ACT, have gone on to successful careers in TV, film and theater.

Well-known in the arts community and a four-time Best of Westchester recipient, ACT is a non-profit organization and one of the longest running community theatres in Westchester.  ACT’s mission is to provide quality theater to Westchester audiences at a reasonable cost, to assist young actors and technicians in the world of theater, and to encourage volunteerism within the community.  ACT is an affiliate of Arts Westchester, and has an extensive and growing community of volunteers who assist with ushering, concessions, set construction, lighting and backstage duties.

The Little Mermaid - a delightful musical for the whole family - opens Friday, March 15 and runs for one weekend.  Tickets are available via ACT’s website:  www.actshows.org

Bronxville Public Library
Bronxville Public Library

The Bronxville Public Library traces its origins back to 1875, when it was a small lending library housed in a room attached to the “Bronxville Model School.” The Library was officially chartered in 1906 and moved into the Village Hall Building. The needs of the library grew with the town and, in 1942, a new standalone building was erected, which is where the Library is today. Over the years, the Library was renovated and expanded to meet the needs of the community.

The Library has wonderful resources for adults and children and offers a comfortable and relaxing environment. The Library also houses a fine art collection, consisting principally of Bronxville painters and sculptors.

The Library offers special events, art exhibitions, and programs for adults, young adults and children. All events are open to the public, unless otherwise indicated.
