Village of Bronxville June Trustees Meeting Covered a Myriad of Important Local Topics

June 11, 2025: The Village of Bronxville June Trustees meeting was held on June 9, 2025. Below are highlights from that meeting.
Police Officers Recognized: Retirement, Excellent Police Work
The meeting began with Bronxville Chief of Police Satriale recognizing recently retired Police Officer Paul Cavallo and overseeing the ceremonial swearing-in of Officers Paul Cozzolino, Samantha Pena, and Sydney Newbury.
Several officers were then recognized for their excellent police work.
-Officer Butler and Detective Sokol were recognized for saving a life.
-Officer Ahmed Danso-Faried was presented with an "excellent police duty" award for locating and detaining a male suspect who had stolen packages from several porches and also recovering some of the stolen property.
-Officer Cheryl Jarosz was presented with an "excellent policy duty" award for her work on an investigation. She built a strong case against a burglar who had carried out several burglaries. She was also presented with a second "excellent policy duty" award for her work on another burglary.
-Officer Brandon Serrano was presented with an "excellent policy duty" award for his work in arresting an individual who had stolen a vehicle and used a fraudulent registration.
-Officer Anthony Franciotti, Officer Jason Cooper, and Officer Matthew Stein were presented with "excellent police duty" awards for their work in identifying individuals involved in stealing mail.
Mayor's Report: Many Successful Local Events
Mayor Mary Marvin then gave her report. She spoke about the large number of very successful local events in May/early June, including the following:
-The Bronxville Memorial Day ceremony, parade, and events
-The Eastchester Memorial Day ceremony and parade.
-The Bronxville sidewalk sale, which was a great success
-The Chamber's recent successful wellness event.
-A special event recognizing Dr. Rachel Kelly's 30th year at the Bronxville School.
-A ceremony dedicating dogwood trees at the village's tennis courts.
-The Bronxville Beautification Council fundraiser this past Saturday.
-The Gramatan Village sold-out event honoring high school students who volunteer with Gramatan Village to help seniors.
-The Bronxville senior class "safety day" which helps prepare seniors for being safe at college
-The Bronxville Historical Conservancy sold-out Hilltop historic home tour.
She also mentioned the upcoming June 12 car show in the village,
Trustee Reports
Trustee Behrens spoke about a 4th-grade event in which the class picked up litter at the Bronxville School and in the village. Behrens noted that cigarette butts don't disintegrate.
Trustee Knapps said that Take Back Day this year was very successful.
Trustee Underhill said that the recent improvements in the village look fantastic.
Village Administrator Report
Village Administrator Jim Palmer also spoke about the downtown improvements in the village, crediting the terrific team at the Bronxville Department of Public Works, as well as the diligent work of the Bronxville Beautiful Council (BBC) and the Bronxville Working Gardeners. Mayor Marvin also noted that the BBC is seeking sponsors for the village planters.
Palmer also spoke about the upcoming first summer concert and the County's mobile passport van, which is coming to Bronxville.
He also said that the Village 2025-26 tax bills have been mailed and mentioned that they can be paid online.
Palmer also noted that Iona is appearing before the planning board to review their application regarding improving the Iona baseball field.
He further noted that we are now in the period when electric leaf blowers can be used, but gas-powered blowers cannot be used.
The improvements to the Hamilton and Sussex area concerning catch basins and manholes have been completed.
He also noted that the Crawford Road drainage improvement project is in process.
Palmer requested and received approval of a bid for the boiler replacement project for the Bronxville library.
The Trustees approved a resolution to purchase a new database and records management system for the Bronxville Police Department.
Palmer noted that the Village Justice Court is very busy and that the Bronxville police have been diligently enforcing moving and other traffic violations in the village.
