Oct. 9, 2024: Have You Noticed all the roadwork around Bronxville?
There are a couple of initiatives underway that account for this roadwork.
Flood Mitigation
Workmen installing on new manhole on Prescott Avenue
One initiative is related to flood mitigation in various locations in Bronxville. For example, on the Hilltop, the village repaired sanitary and storm water manholes, put in root control measures, and installed a new manhole on Prescott Avenue.
The village has also lined a number of the sanitary sewer systems, including one down the length of Parkway Road as well as on Palmer Avenue, Milburn Street, Avon Road, Park Avenue, and Woodland Avenue. This lining extends the life of sewers and eliminates/reduces inflow and infiltration of storm water into the sewer system.
Gas Line Replacement

Con Ed delivers natural gas to areas of Westchester through miles of pipeline. They are replacing old pipeline with new pipeline in many areas of Westchester including Bronxville.
Work on Sidewalks & Curbs

Other work in the village is related to "walkability" and pedestrian safety. This work includes installing new sidewalks and curbing, as well as the realignment of crosswalks to improve pedestrian visibility.
This work is taking place on Parkway Road, Palmer Avenue, Pondfield Road and Kraft Avenue.
Orange Dividers
You may have noticed these orange dividers in the village.
Bronxville Village Administrator Jim Palmer reports that the dividers are temporary, and their purpose is to guide traffic. The old median was removed to enable Con Ed to do the new gas line installation.
Palmer says that the whole area will be restored, and the contractor for this project will be determined at the October Trustees meeting.
