By Mary Taylor Behrens, Retiring Trustee of Village of Bronxville
March 11, 2026: As this is my final meeting as a Trustee, I wanted to take a moment to express my deep gratitude for the opportunity to serve the Village of Bronxville for the past six years.
Serving three terms has been a great honor - local government is where decisions truly touch people’s daily lives. I am very proud of the thoughtful work we have done together to protect the character of our Village while also making meaningful change.
I have had the privilege to work alongside an extraordinary Mayor and fellow Trustees who care deeply about this Village. We have worked as a team to do what is right for the Village. I will miss you all greatly.
I also want to recognize our Village Administrator, Jim Palmer. His steady leadership, institutional knowledge and commitment to excellence keeps this Village running smoothly every single day. His staff is also the best! Many who are here this evening. Thanks to each one of you who help the Trustees and serve the Village.
And to Chief Satriale. Very proud to have work with you and your amazing police department. It is no secret, we have one of the best police departments in NY State. Chief’s tenure is unmatched and unparallel. The Trustees proudly support our Police in Bronxville, and the Village is a better place as a result.
A few specific initiatives I have worked on that I particularly proud of are: the work we did at Maltby Park to make it a vibrant park for young children. The crosswalk and sidewalks we put in at Rt 22 to allow better and safer passage to and from the East and West sides of the Village. The stormwater drainage systems we installed at Hamilton and Sussex. And the Village Hall monthly newsletter we instituted to make our Village Government more transparent.
I also wanted to thank my son, Matt, who encouraged me to run and supported my campaigns.
I will be following along with all that goes on in the Village, the place I have spent the better part of my life. The Village is a special community, and I feel lucky to live here. And I can say we are in very good hand with this leadership team.
Thank you
