July 30, 2025: The Bronxville School is pleased to announce the appointment of Rossd’Lyn (Roz) Palacio as the new assistant principal for both Bronxville Middle School and Bronxville High School. Her appointment follows a rigorous and comprehensive search process that attracted more than 110 applicants. Following screening interviews with 12 candidates, she stood out among five finalists who were interviewed by a 14-member committee comprised of school administrators, faculty, a PTA representative, and a Board of Education member.
With more than 20 years of experience in youth development – including 12 years in school-based roles – Palacio brings a deep understanding of student needs and school leadership.
“Her leadership is characterized by transforming a vision into reality,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Rachel Kelly said. “I am confident that her unwavering commitment to students, comprehensive skill set and ability to build impactful programs and foster a positive school culture will make her an invaluable asset to our leadership team.”
Palacio joins Bronxville from the Bronx Academy for Software Engineering, where she served as assistant principal. There, she was instrumental in shaping the foundational support system for students, using data-informed instruction and growth-centered practices to support whole-child development. She has also supported school operations through master schedule development and fostered family and community engagement by strengthening outreach. Earlier in her career, she was a founding school counselor at the same school, where she developed its first comprehensive school counseling program.
“Her professional trajectory showcases a remarkable progression of leadership and impact,” Bronxville Middle School Principal Joe Mercora and Bronxville High School Principal Ray Loverso said. “Her educational background provides a unique blend of pedagogical expertise, administrative acumen and a deep understanding of adolescent mental health and well-being.”
Palacio is currently pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership, administration and policy at Fordham University. She earned school building leader and school district leader certifications from Manhattan College. She holds a master’s degree in school counseling and a certificate in mental health counseling from Alfred University. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University at Buffalo, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise science.
Palacio will officially step into her new role on Aug. 1.
