Bronxville School Budget
On May 19th, voters will also have the opportunity to vote on the Bronxville School's proposed Budget for next year.
The School’s proposed budget is $57.6 million. As you can see in the chart below, nearly 76% of the budget is salaries & benefits.
This proposed budget will result in a tax levy increase of 4.8%. This Budget is $1.38 million over the tax cap.
According to Dan Carlin, Assistant Superintendent for Business, the primary reason for the Budget increase in the coming year is the impact of inflation over the past years, and continuing in the coming year,
Additionally, the school has maintained a tight budget in recent years. According to Carlin, the School has come in under the Tax Levy Cap for the past 14 years, which has saved taxpayers significant dollars. For example, over the past four years, the CPI rose 18-20% yet the School managed to hold budget increases to 7-8%.
The Board held workshops this fall in which it reviewed the impact of potential cuts to get to the tax cap, such as fewer electives, fewer coaches, and higher class sizes. After reviewing these cuts, Carlin said that it was the collective view of the Board that the impact of getting to the tax cap would result in cuts that would not be acceptable to the community because these cuts would have a significant negative impact on the School.
