Iona University and Bronxville School Partner to Explore Teaching and Learning in the Age of Artificial Intelligence

March 6, 2025: Artificial intelligence is transforming the way we live, work and learn—and Iona University is committed to ensuring that educators are ready to meet the moment.
From equipping teachers with the skills to integrate AI into their classrooms to exploring the deeper, philosophical questions AI raises for society at large, Iona has embraced the challenge with creativity, collaboration and a focus on community impact.
This year, Iona is bringing that mission to life with the Bronxville Union Free School District, as together they engage in a new AI@Iona micro-credential program. Designed to empower educators with practical tools and innovative strategies, the program not only helps educators understand AI, but also encourages experimentation to enhance student learning and curiosity.

“AI@Iona is all about creating opportunities for collaboration and encouraging educators to explore timeless questions in new ways,” said Iona President Seamus Carey, Ph.D. “By partnering with the Bronxville school district, we are eager to deepen our connection to the community and to have a meaningful impact in service to our educators and students.”
Launched as part of Iona’s newly established Gabelli Center for Teaching & Learning, the AI@Iona micro-credential program covers a range of topics. Led by Iona faculty and culminating in the spring with a recognition ceremony, lessons include the ethical use of AI, real-world applications and collaborative problem solving.
Educators are experimenting with tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Copilot, leaving with concrete strategies to utilize within their district and classrooms. The program isn’t just about a new technology, though; it’s about connection and community.

“We are excited to partner with Iona to support our educators as they embrace new tools and explore the possibilities AI brings to teaching and learning,” said Ann Meyer, assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction for the Bronxville schools.
Educators from across the Yonkers school district and Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx are also participating in the AI@Iona micro-credential program. To learn more, please contact the Office of the Provost at (914) 633-2602 or
