Online Voting Begins May 11 for Non-Partisan Committee Members

May 6, 2015:  The Bronxville Committee for the Non-Partisan Nomination and Election of School Trustees (NPC) is pleased to announce the names of individuals who have applied to be placed on the ballot for election to the NPC. 

Ten representatives will be elected in the following manner:  One three-year term in each of Bronxville's seven election districts and three partial terms to fill openings in District 19 (two years), District 21 (one year), and District 22 (one year). All terms begin July 1, 2015. 

The candidates seeking membership on the NPC are:

District 20: Cathy Flanagan
District 21: Niamh Hartnett Merluccio
District 21: Charlotte Rizzo

A brief biography and a statement from each candidate are available on the NPC website at www.bronxvillenpc.com. Voting begins on May 11 and continues through June 1 via online ballot. All details of the vote are on the NPC website. 

The NPC is a volunteer organization. It does, however, incur certain expenses, largely related to website hosting, printing, postage, and electronic voting. To cover those costs, the NPC asks each Bronxville household to make a small donation to the NPC either by mail to P.O. Box 933, Bronxville, NY 10708, or through our website, www.bronxvillenpc.com. 

The NPC was formed in 1936 to foster the election of trustees of The Bronxville School on a non-partisan basis. The NPC, which consists of three elected representatives from each of Bronxville's seven election districts, solicits qualified residents who are interested in serving as school trustee and nominates a slate of candidates to run in the school-district election each May.

The Bronxville Public Library traces its origins back to 1875, when it was a small lending library housed in a room attached to the “Bronxville Model School.” The Library was officially chartered in 1906 and moved into the Village Hall Building. The needs of the library grew with the town and, in 1942, a new standalone building was erected, which is where the Library is today. Over the years, the Library was renovated and expanded to meet the needs of the community.

The Library has wonderful resources for adults and children and offers a comfortable and relaxing environment. The Library also houses a fine art collection, consisting principally of Bronxville painters and sculptors.

The Library offers special events, art exhibitions, and programs for adults, young adults and children.  All events are open to the public, unless otherwise indicated.
